Brooks Chapel Rededication

The rededication ceremony for the Brooks Chapel will take place on Sunday, April 21, beginning at noon. The chapel, named for legendary Nineteenth Street pastor Rev. Dr. Walter Henderson Brooks, has recently undergone renovations and is reopening for prayer services, special meetings, weddings, and other programs.

Immediately after the conclusion of the Fruit of the Spirit Sunday worship service, the congregation will proceed from the sanctuary to the chapel, using the breezeway leading to the church offices.

Deaconess Kathryn Brooks, whose husband, the late Elmer T. Brooks, was a grandson of Rev. Brooks, will cut the ribbon at the front of the chapel doors. The ceremony will include a presentation from Trustee Charlie Sprow, chair of the Chapel Committee that managed the renovations, and remarks from Deaconess Brooks. In addition, a biography will be distributed commemorating the history, life, and service rendered by Rev. Brooks, our pastor for 63 years, beginning in 1882.

After the rededication ceremony, the Chapel Committee is hosting a reception in the Wyatt A. James Fellowship Hall. All are encouraged to attend.
