The Deaconess Board is hosting a Grab & Go meal for its 31st Annual Deaconess Family Dinner on Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. This year’s event honors the life and service of Deaconess Emeritus June Lacy Jackson.

Dinner orders must be placed in advance. Ticket sales begin on September 10 and end on October 8. The ticket price is $30, with an entrée choice of fried chicken, baked salmon, barbeque ribs, or vegetarian. The dinner is being catered by Barbara “Babs” Thompson and her team.

Dinners may be ordered in three ways:

  • At the Deaconess Board table in the fellowship hall after worship service on September 10, 17, and 24 and October 8
  • Through Eventbrite – just click this link
  • By mailing a check or money order to Nineteenth Street Baptist Church, 4606 16th Street NW, Washington, D.C., 20011, c/o Deaconess Board, along with an order form showing your dinner menu choice(s). To download an order form, click here.

Orders will be distributed after worship on October 15, in the fellowship hall near the kitchen entrance.

The event is an annual fundraiser to support the ministry of the Board of Deaconesses. As members of the Diaconate, deaconesses serve as spiritual leaders and positive role  models in the church and community to encourage and foster the vision and mission of the church.
