Global Missions Ministry

The Global Missions Ministry is founded on the Great Commission proclaimed in Matthew 28:19-20. Since 2003 we have traveled to other nations to spread the love of Jesus Christ. Presently we have ministries in Burkina Faso, Jamaica, Nicaragua, and Haiti. Even when we cannot have face-to-face ministries, our work continues through partnerships that we have developed in each country.

Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things, whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:19-20)

Global Missions Team Serving in Haiti

In Burkina Faso, we continue to help support Orphans and Vulnerable Children. In Jamaica, we are working with Rev. Vanya Grant as he establishes a new church. In Nicaragua, we are giving support to a young seminary student as well as to his church family. Haiti has been a special focus in recent years. In 2021, we completed our fifth and final Haiti Walk 5K, our fundraiser to support VillageMed in building a much-needed pediatric clinic in Layaye, Haiti.

We continue to seek God’s guidance as we move forward at this difficult time. The people, already enduring extreme poverty and accompanying health issues, have suffered from the Ebola virus, the chikungunya virus, terrorist attacks, locust infestation, and presently COVID-19.  Since 2014, at varying intervals, our missionary trips have been impeded in various countries because of these problems. We look forward to the time when we can resume our missionary journeys.

Each year in September Global Missions Ministry Sunday is held to celebrate and glorify God for the opportunity given us to serve in carrying out the Great Commission. We share with the congregation information on our activities over the past year and seek support for our initiatives. The ministry is an extension of the body of Nineteenth Street Baptist Church. We are dependent on the contributions of our church family and on fundraising efforts. We thank you for your generous support in the past and ask you to prayerfully consider helping us continue these initiatives.

We invite and gladly welcome anyone who would like to become a member of Global Missions Ministry.  In addition to people who travel, we need people for activities here at home, including for the Haiti Walk 5K and membership recruitment.
