Fruit of the Spirit Ministry

The Fruit of Spirit Ministry’s logo is an imposing tree set in a lush emerald green background with nine branches, each representing an attribute of Jesus Christ. The fruit of the Holy Spirit refreshes, revives, and sustains us. Each fruit speaks to a Christian way of life that is forever growing, learning, and consuming these attributes, which are always in season. The Fruit of the Spirit Ministry desires to fulfill the scriptures and to have the message of Galatians 5:22-23 come alive in You!

Upon joining the church, you automatically become a member of this ministry. Connecting you to other members of the Body of Christ is our hope for you in “Walking in the Spirit and being led by the Spirit.”

The Fruit of the Spirit Ministry aids in one or more of the following ways:

  • We witness to you about the love of our risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the work He will do in your life when you open your heart to Him.
  • We answer questions about your faith, the church, and our Baptist denomination.
  • We pray with you and for you.
  • We find ways in which you can use your time, talents, and treasures for the Lord.
  • We share with you by rejoicing when you have a special or important event or accomplishment.
  • We find ways for you to serve in the church as well as in our community.
  • We serve God as we serve our fellow man.
  • We reach out to you using your preferred communication methods—email, text, cards, phone calls or letters.

Fruit of the Spirit Ministry Donation Drive
Food Pantry and Clothes Closet Ministries

The Fruit of the Spirit Ministry conducts an annual food drive for the church’s Food Pantry. In 2024, the drive will take place May 1 through July 28. A member of the ministry will be in the Fellowship Hall on the third Sunday of each month to collect contributions. We also accept donations made through the church’s online giving platforms and apps; add a notation that the funds are for the Fruit of the Spirit drive.

We encourage the congregation to contribute money, and not food, to this cause. The church has a partnership with the National Capital Area Food Bank, which allows our pantry to purchase food at a discount, up to 30 percent. We will not allow people in our community to go hungry.

This year, the ministry is adding a drive for the Clothes Closet. As you clean out your closets at home, do not forget that the church collects clothes—old and new, all sizes, summer, and winter—to give to the poor and disadvantaged. Bring your clean clothes to the fellowship hall.

This is what we are called to do ever since we gave our lives to Christ. We know that when people are in need, Christ calls us to help.

Jesus said when He gave us the Beatitudes, “Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.” (Matthew 5:7 KJV)

Deaconess Dena Bowen and Deaconess Martha Ward are the leaders for this project! We praise God for the work of their hands and hearts!
